Grand Rapids Resident Celebrates 94th Birthday
Friends and family recently gathered at Cracker Barrel to celebrate the 94th birthday of Blanche Babers.
When asked how it feels to be able to live 94 years, Miss Babers answered, "I thank God that I am still here." She still continues to send cards through the mail to people for birthdays, bereavements and holidays, because that is her ministry.
"She remembers everyone's birthdays, anniversaries and other special events," daughter Brenda. "She can still speak for herself, and takes care of herself. She does move a little slower and her hearing has decreased a little bit more. I am that the Lord is keeping her here and that she can still take care of herself. We really don't need anyone to come in to do daily care for her or cleaning for her or anything. She can still take care of herself. I do have people coming to her home to make sure that she eats lunch and I have two ladies who visit her every week just to keep her company. My mother also still writes her own checks and pays her own bills.
