Javonta Walton Introduces Smoke House BBQ

Javonte Davis pays homage to his Uncle Al Brown from Behind The Scenes Catering. Al is a professional Cook and Caterer who has traveled on tour and cooked for some of the world's biggest artist. Javonta says that his uncle not necessarily took him out of a bad situation but showed him something different in life because he came from the south east part of town off of the Lafayette area where most of the guys are either deceased or in prison. Javonta was blessed and fortunate to have someone like his Uncle Al in his life to show him a different path to choose.

After working with his uncle for about ten years, he soon started having entrepreneur goals of his own and decided to try his hand at cooking and working for himself. He began giving out samples of his food to people on 43rd street. Javonta decided to call his brand of barbe- cue, Smoke House BBQ and is now located at 2323 Twenty- Eighth Street, right in front of The Tile Shop. The first thing you will notice is a small house and the second thing you will notice is the smoke coming off of the grill, along with the incredible smell of well seasoned bar-b-cue.
Javonta is known for his rib tips. A lot people say that he has southern tasting food. He makes his food with a lot of love and even has his own special meat rub that he calls 'Love'.

Walton's work ethic is one of his best assets. It is not uncommon to see him in negative temperature weather in a snowsuit cooking bar-b-cue.

Javonta also believes in giving back to the community and has done Easter basket drives, parties and other special events. He also has a heart for those in the community who have made some mistakes in life and are in need of a second chance such as ex-offenders who have no one to help them to get back on their feet. Many of them are not given a chance to reestablish themselves anywhere else so he employs them and tries to be the beacon of light for them that his uncle has been for him. He gives those who want an opportunity to work a chance to prove themselves. His overall goal is to continue to give back to the youth to continue to build up this community.

He is the father of three and is admired for all of his positive qualities by his girlfriend of five years Navia.

"I help with the business in anyway that I can but he has not only taught me about entrepreneurship but he has also taught me a new skill as well."

This week Javonta will be celebrating his 30th birthday. Don't forget to stop by Smoke House BBQ located at 2323 Twenty-Eighth Street to wish him a Happy Birthday and don't forget to try some of his food that he makes for this community with love.
